Degree qualification in Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Degree qualification in Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Sydney construction market and subcontractors (ideally)
  • High level accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience using Buildsoft (Cubit) and BidContender (an advantage, but not essential)

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Cost Planner to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Head of Estimating & Bid Management, your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
  • Provide quick accurate quantities that reflect the level of detail on the drawings.
  • Ensure all risk items are covered (or clearly qualified as excluded) within the Cost Plan and all opportunities are identified.
  • Proactively contribute to adding value on the project, with the Project Manager, through value engineering ideas throughout the design process.
  • Act early in identifying opportunities to optimise the design in order to minimize abortive design work.
  • Maintain a 'Running Sheet' of Risks and Opportunities.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager, Services Project Engineers, Site Team and Consultants to extract all the required information needed to complete your task.
  • Assist in the establishment of the project procurement strategy and refine as necessary.
  • Prepare the Preliminaries & Supervision build-up utilising the standard template with input from the site team.
  • Ensure that the Cost Plan Budgets are in line with the project procurement plan requirements and the company purchasing agreements.
  • Present completed Cost Plan/Estimate to Management for review.
  • Ensure project reviews are carried out in accordance with the companies Limits of Authority.
  • Mentor and develop skills of staff. Take an active role in the performance management process to develop and mentor subordinates towards a successful career in the company.
